The Dog & The Elephant short film, by Found Studio

Found Studio’s latest project is an adaptation of a one man stage play by Matt Grinter called The Dog & The Elephant. Set in the violent world of Victorian Boxing and the honour code of the Romany Gypsies.

The film tells the compelling story of bare- knuckle boxer Bendigo Barlow (Jack Johns) whose fractured life leads him on a brutal journey of destruction, retribution and ultimately revenge.

Shot on an empty black sound stage with one single source light by award winning Cinematographer Nicholas Bennett. The use of black and white photography coupled with it’s stripped back and raw visual style gives the film a cinematic quality whilst still retaining the theatre of the original play.

The film was directed by Mike Sharpe (Found Studio) who was nominated for ‘Best New Director’ at the UKMVA’s and written by Matt Grinter, winner of the Papatango Prize 2016.

Found is a creative content studio, always on the look out for new and exciting ways to challenge ourselves. This film forms part of a suite of self-initiated projects, an ongoing initiative to keep pushing the studio both technically and creatively.

Other studio initiatives include groundbreaking VR experience ‘The Room’ which was shortlisted for a BIMA and short film ‘Mondegreen’.
