The FBI said on Friday that it intends to renew its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State.
Law enforcement officials have said that the emails, which reportedly number in the thousands, were discovered when the FBI seized the electronic devices of Huma Abedin and her husband, Anthony Weiner.
In a letter to congressional leaders, FBI Director James Comey said that he “agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.”
Though the FBI ended its initial investigation without filing any charges, Comey noted that Clinton had been “extremely careless” in exchanging classified content on the server. – WAPO
